Pickling your system
Pickling System
Pickling your watermaker is a simple process. It usually takes about 5 minutes.
1. Fill up a large bucket with 10 to 12 litres of product water (chlorine free, from Sample faucet); mix in 5 tablespoons (75ml) of pickling powder (sodium metabisulphite)
2. Shut down the system normally including fresh water flush. Make sure Sample/Tank Valve is in Sample position
3. Put the pickling hose (attached to Charcoal Filter assembly) into the bucket of pickling solution
4. Turn Pickling Valve, on the Charcoal Filter to the vertical position
5. Turn on High Pressure Pump. Do not dial in pressure. The pickling solution will be drawn out of the bucket and through the system. When bucket is empty, shut off High Pressure Pump
6. Turn Pickling Valve back to horizontal position
After pickling, the system can be left in storage for 6 months, flush system and repeat after 6 months if required
